Totally worth it, but!

I have the smoothbore in kit form and the rifled.
Some of the parts in the kit where screwed up and luckily I was able order parts from dixie to complete the build. That being said the front barrel band is from a 58. Instead of a 69. and still doesn't fit quite right but one of these days I'll pound it out. In the meantime I've been shooting round ball patched .64? (Not exactly sure what size my mold is, got it at a show) and un-patched .69 both with excellent 50- 75 yard accuracy and reasonable groups when I wipe the bore between shots. Workable speaks with #6 shot at about the same distance. I've only used 69. Conicals with the rifle so far and although I'm still playing with my powder and load I'm getting paper plate accuracy at 100 yards but I think it'll do better with more fine tuning (Probably my skill not the bore) my advice would be not to buy the kit. They seem to send all the messed up parts that didn't work in the factory. I recommend a completed 49 either rifle or smooth and just be planning on working on it a bit. I did a plum brown on the barrel and blued most of the parts of the smooth bore and I could have done the same with less hassle in half the time on the completed rifle when I got it. I'm happy with both guns the way they are at this point except the above mentioned barrel band.
