Description

The Northwest Traditions® Buckstalker™ XT Muzzleloader is a compact, maneuverable firearm that combines many of Traditions™ best features into one rifle. The NW Buckstalker™ has a 24" barrel making it perfect in any hunting situation, from shooting in dense brush or taking long shots across draws and open fields. This gun comes equipped with the Northwest Accelerator Breech Plug™ that is removed by hand in just three turns, without the use of tools. In addition, the one-piece stainless steel breech plug is made for use with musket caps and loose powder.

The Speed Load System allows for easy loading and more consistent groups, while the Premium CeraKote Finish helps protect against corrosion and all weather conditions.

The Dual Safety System makes the NW Buckstalker™ XT one of the safest guns on the market by equipping this rifle with both a trigger block safety and internal hammer block safety. The upgraded Elite XT™ Trigger System provides the shooter with a precise and accurate trigger pull and the ability to open the action with the cross-bolt safety engaged. The Buckstalker™ XT represents one of the best values in muzzleloading.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This Northwest Legal muzzleloader uses a musket cap ignition system that is only required in Idaho and Oregon. If you are hunting in any other state we recommend purchasing a non-Northwest Legal muzzleloader. For the 209 primer version of this rifle, CLICK HERE.

Good to go out of the box

I did the initial cleaning and then took it to sight it in. Right out of the box I hit 2" to the right and 2" to the left of center at 50 yds. Freehand. Height was perfect. Then I used a rest at 100 yds. Only 5 " of drop. 100gr. Pyrodex Select powder and 275gr TC Maxi Hunter. I'm happy with that!

Traditions buckstalker XT. Northwest version

I live in Idaho. There are only a few inline muzzleloaders that can be used in my state. If I want an inline there are few options for me to hunt with in Idaho. The breech has to be exposed and I must use full bore lead bullets and loose powder. I would call this a carbine very close to a CVA Wolf. It is an inexpensive inline muzzleloader that works well. It has a fast 1/48 twist. The breech for northwest version is cut out to expose the primer to elements making an inline legal in Idaho. The breech is easily removed with fingers making it very easy to clean well and quickly. If you like the CVA wolf you will like this rifle also. I do not like the the sights but that is a preference thing. I purchased a rear peep sight which I like over the original rear sight. I guess that is a preference thing also. If you can buy this rifle for 250 dollars or less, I would consider purchasing this rifle. If I had to pay more I would upgrade to next model from CVA with a bit longer barrel. I will keep this rifle in my collection but I will upgrade to a longer barrel at a later date. This Covid thing makes it hard to find anything to purchase. This is why I chose this rifle but I do not regret my purchase. Over all, I give it 4 stars.
