The reliable Calvary sidearm that helped tame the West. Union Army soldiers and mounted soldiers were typically issued sidearm revolvers designed for the time. They relied heavily on these revolvers for short range and close quarters combat. The revolver was unique and highly sought-after because it had the ability to fire several rounds per minute before having to reload. Revolvers were typically issued as the sidearm of choice to officers and mounted soldiers. However, some were purchased privately or found scattered on the battlefield by infantrymen.
Distinguished by its octagon barrel and lever style loader, the Model 1851 helped to begin both the expansion of the West and the Civil War. The 1851 Navy Revolver is commonly considered to be one of gunfighter “Wild Bill” Hickok’s favorite handguns. The British government licensed the manufacturing rights and produced what is commonly known as the London Model. This revolver features a 7.375" octagonal barrel, brass frame, brass guard, and walnut grip. It is available in .44 caliber, weighs 2.5 lbs., and is 13.5" in length.

"So far I'm very pleased with the kit. The accessories are better quality than I expected and the pistol appears very well made, though I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. The powder flask seems very well made. I didn't see a marking telling me how many grain the included spout contained, but I may have missed it. The cleaning kit, powder measure and everything else are all very nice. Just a couple of things, the gun needed to be cleaned inside and out. There was some residue of the milling inside the barrel and trigger mechanism but it cleaned out just fine. And of course that plastic packaging... I tried two different can openers, tin snips, scissors and garden shears trying to get into it without damaging any of the contents. Slow and steady with a tile knife did the trick but it would be nice if the packaging were a bit more consumer friendly."
"Ive had mine for about a year now and although it is a lower end model and I've had to replace the cylinder finger spring and the cylinder lock and trigger spring, I still have no regrets what so ever in purchasing it.
Now, you're probably wondering why I still gave it 5 stars even though it broke on me twice... Well, not only is it a blast to shoot but because of the spring replacements that I've done my self, it has taught me a lot about the gun and its history, assuming that it's as close to the original 1851 as possible. With all my guns, I always take them apart and try to get familiar with its internals. I like knowing how things work.
Not only am I impressed with the gun it's self, but the kit that came with it was great. It's an awesome starter pack to get someone interested in black powder firearms as well as get them intrigued by its history and how far we have actually come in the firearms world. It certainly got me hooked!!"
