Description

The Pedersoli™ 1854 Lorenz Infantry Rifle is a .54 caliber percussion model that is a reproduction of the rifle manufactured in the 1850's. The rifle was conceived by the Austrian Lieutenant Joseph Lorenz and officially came into production in late 1854, replacing the Augustin rifle among Austrian soldiers. From it's induction the Lorenz Infantry Rifle established a reputation of supremacy compared with preceding rifles. The Lorenz Rifle was used during the second Italian War of Independence, as well as in the Balkans. The Lorenz was later exported to the Americas, equipping both the Union and the Confederate armies alike. The Lorenz became one of the most widely utilized rifles during the years of the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865.

The Pedersoli™ 1854 Lorenz Infantry Rifle Type II features a 37" premium PMG® steel barrel in .54 caliber (13.9mm) with a percussion cap ignition system. The Lorenze Infantry Rifle sports four groove rifling and a internal twist rate of 1:78. The Lorenz Rifle features a beautiful 48” one-piece Walnut stock in a satin finish and full length steel ramrod for easy loading. The Pedersoli™ Lorenz Rifle's front sight is a steel base and blade, while the rear sight is steel flip-up with a ladder/elevator. The Pedersoli™ Lorenz Infantry Rifle Type II is approved for reenactment by the North-South Skirmish Association (N-SSA)

The 1854 Lorenz Rifle is made by Pedersoli™ in Italy and is 53" in overall length and weighs 9 lbs. A great rifle to take out in the field or simply display on your wall.

1854 Lorenz Rifle

The 1854 Lorenz is the amazing quality, accuracy, and beauty you expect from Pedersoli. I was very excited when Pedersoli first announced this product. It arrived in perfect condition, and well covered in oil and wrapping. I've collected many Pedersoli muskets over the years, but their silver line guns are just perfect. There is such close attention to detail in faithfully copying the original pattern. They seem to me to be the best balance of out of the box authenticity and deadly accurate "shooter" that you can be proud to pass on down. Could you buy an original for a little less? Sure, if you're lucky to find one at the right time and place, but not in any decent quality. And if it was, you'd be a fool to abuse it with anything more than light shooting. Came crisply marked "858" on the lock for 1858, with the imperial marking just behind the hammer. Front sight base is angled to accept the original socket bayonet design. Also came with a spare slightly taller front sight post for presumably a longer sight zeroing if one desired. Rear sight leaf was also crisply marked and smooth as well. Clean lines and smooth craftsmanship all around. I could not be happier with my purchase. I highly recommend for the enthusiast, collector, and reenactor.
