At the heart of the Hornady™ muzzleloading bullets you will find its patriarch the SST-ML. This bullet was specifically designed for 200+ yard shots. It comes in a .50 caliber sabot with a .45 caliber 250 grain bullet. The SST features Hornady’s patented Flex Tip™ which aids in bullet expansion upon impact. This bullet out performs the competition by flying flatter and farther than anything else on the market.
Hornady’s exclusive Flex Tip™ accomplishes optimal flight performance at low velocities over longer-distances, which makes it ideal for muzzleloading. Specifically engineered to provide pinpoint accuracy, penetration and high weight retention, the SST-ML™ is not your average bullet. The SST™ also comes with the newly designed Low Drag sabot, allowing for easier reloading.

Worked great on my elk review by Eric P. on 1/8/2020
"I shot a cow elk at 60 yards with this bullet and 3 pellets last year. She balled up and never took a step. The amount of shock force on the rib cage was very similar to the same shot with a 300 win. Bullet shoots great and performed flawlessly."
Deer down review by Josh DeCastro on 12/14/2019
"I have 4 different rifles 2 cva (wolf/v2 optima) a tompson center dimond, and a traditions buk horn all love these bullets shot many deer with all as I started cheep and just ended up well you all know how that goes lol,I have shot them from 15' to 150yds found all deer one I shot 2 years ago must have turned last min I hit the hind quater blew through hip bone bullet traveled up through body to the neck at 75 yds dropped in its tracks bullet held together core and jacket with obvious deformation was still there these bullets are great won't use any other. ,Will d that wrote first review probly used the bonded as they are harder core and look same both are great bullets but bonded don't mushroom as much on smaller body deer if u shoot 50lb does I can see it passing through quick with little damage :)"
BEWARE! Do not use on whitetails review by Will D. on 12/3/2019
"Cliff notes version- these bullets are not bonded and should not be used to hunt deer.
Full Story- I made a long shot (196 yards) on a mature doe using this bullet and dropped her in her tracks. I got up to the deer only to realize she wasn’t dead. After dispatching her, I saw the hole the bullet made directly in the shoulder where I aimed. After skinning her, I found the copper jacket lodged in her shoulder blade and the lead core in her spine. The core separated from the jacket and followed the shoulder up and into her spine. This bullet made a kill shot into a crippling shot, which is unacceptable.
However, these bullets are super accurate and are great for target practice. They just perform pathetically on animals. "
Very accurate bullet review by Don D on 10/2/2018
"I have killed bucks up to 175 yards with this bullet always preformed well and will create tight 100 yd. groups."
Excellent accuracy and great knockdown power. review by George S. on 10/2/2018
"I have been shooting these in my Encore muzzleloader for several years. I use three 50 gr Pyrodex pellets. The accuracy is excellent, averaging about 1.5 inches at 100 yards (three shots) - - I have shot several groups of only 1.0 inch. I also practice at 200 yards, since I have a Leupold S.A.B.R scope that has dots for 200 yards and 250 yards. I consistently hit within 3.5 inches of the bullseye at 200 yards. I have killed several bucks with this bullet, and most of them traveled less than 50 yards, leaving a good blood trail the whole way. Some of them dropped in their tracks. Note: I clean my barrel very well after each shot."

My go to hunting bullet! review by Gunner C on 2/20/2018
"I have been using these bullets for over 10 years and harvested over 12 deer, both bucks and does. Excellent blood trails on all deer, I have never lost a deer when hit in the boiler room. The deer have been shot from 25 to 125 yards with a T/C Triumph.I have used other bullets and the only other bullet that comes close their performance is the XTP's."
Pencil Holes review by John C. on 12/31/2017
"I bought a box for me and a buddy because the reviews were good and the price was right. My buddy and I went hunting and both shot deer on the same evening. I could not find any trace of blood from the doe I shot at 85 yards. I looked and looked and not a trace. Dejected, I went back to the truck to wait on my friend to finish hunting. I knew he had shot and figured he had got his doe. He came walking up and said, man you are not going to believe this but I know I hit that deer but could not find a trace of blood. He circled where he shot the deer and circled farther and farther out and luckily came across her. Pencil hole in and pencil hole out, right through the heart. Barely any blood on the ground where she lay. So, I got to thinking, man I know I hit that doe, maybe the same thing has happened. Sure enough after looking for over an hour, we finally found her a good 75 yards away. Same exact thing, shot through the heart with pencil hole in and pencil hole out, and no blood...We have both hunted for 20+ years and have harvested many animals. Never seen anything like this, so figured it was the ballistic tip bullet not expanding and doing enough damage. Very accurate target bullet, but not something you want to use for hunting."
Hornady SST 250 Grain review by Lance D. on 7/12/2017
"Great bullet, great price and fast shipping "
Acceptable Accuracy review by Pasquale on 2/26/2016
"First bench range test with new CVA Optima V-2 50 Cal. In Line with Konus Pro 3x9 scope. After a few minor elevation adjustments fired 5 shots using 2 - Triple 7 - 50 gr. pellets @ 50 yard, 1 1/2" group. 100 yard same load 5 shots, 3 1/2" wide group x 1" high. Used barrel blaster cleaning patch every other shot. Certainly good for deer hunting. Will test power belt 250 grain Aero Tip with white hot pellets next session. "
Performance above all review by John E. on 8/26/2015
"I use the SST 250gr in my CVA Accura it has out performed all others I have used. Better weight retention and accuracy plus it is by far in the way it travels through a Deer. Don't have to track near as much with this bullet. Definitely staying with this bullet."
Best Muzzleloader Sabot by a mile review by Richard Blair on 8/26/2015
"I have been using these for the past four years and they are by far the most accurate that I have ever used and I have tried almost all of them. I have killed doe for the last four years or more and they do not run far using these Hornady SST 250 grain bullets...."
Very good review by Colin hunter on 8/26/2015

Most accurate bullet review by John W. on 8/20/2015
"I purchased the Hornady SST 250 gr. bullet to shoot out of my Traditions Striker Fire. Now I shoot it out of 3 other muzzleloaders. I have been shooting muzzleloaders since 1978, and this is by far the best and most accurate bullet and sabot I have found."
Mushroomed Nicely! review by Robert B. on 7/22/2015
"I was drawn for a special 5 day muzzleloader hunt in NorthWest Arkansas this year. Headed to the range with 6 different brands of bullets for my new CVA Apex rifle. The 250 grain Hornady SST shot clover leaf groups at 100 yards, using 110 grains of Blackhorn 209 powder...I was given a 15 yard shot, head on by this 5.5 year old buck and the SST preformed flawlessly. The bullet traveled over 30" cross-body and destroyed everything in it path. I was able to recover the bullet just under the hide, and it looked just like the perfect mushroom that you see in all the advisements. The big buck only ran 25 yards after being hit right through the heart. I have complete faith in SST and the guys in camp do too."
Blew Right Through review by Nicholas D. on 7/22/2015
"(shot a buck at 180 yards)...The Hornady bullet blew right through his shoulders and tore apart his lungs, even at 180 yards! I will never use another bullet again!"
