The redesigned CVA Wolf™ 209 Magnum has many new features including all the features that made the original Wolf the number one selling muzzleloader in the world. Still lightweight and easy to maneuver, this new CVA Wolf muzzleloader is compact and lightweight for the smaller framed hunters, or the hunter that is mobile and needs a gun that will perform well in the brush. The 100% ambidextrous stock is durable in the black composite configuration. The Wolf also features CVA’s new QRBP (Quick-Release Breech Plug) – the only truly tool-free removal breech plug on the market today. Even after 20 or more shots, the QRBP comes out with just a twist of the fingers – try that with any other "speed breech" system. Plus, the break-action breech opens easily with just a touch of the breeching button, which is located in the front of the trigger guard.

The Wolf’s compact and quick-pointing barrel is made of blued steel and is set up with a DuraSight® Dead-On Scope Mount. The Wolf, it’s a lot of gun – but not a lot of money.

  1. Good value for the money review by David on 2/6/2020

"I've owned 2 wolfs. 1 with the old style breech plug and currently the new style. Ease of loading, shooting and cleaning versus the cost can't be beat. Accurate and light weight. "

  2. Amazing rifle review by James on 2/22/2019

"This rifle does everything you could want it to do, at a very reasonable price. Runs great with Sabots or the Powerbelts. I use 2 50 grain pellets and she shoots like a champ. Haven't had the opportunity to take a deer with this rifle yet but hopefully I am able too. "

  3. Alot more than i expected for the price, My first muzzle loader and i love it im now a addict for life and im sticking with CVA. review by Shane Thompson on 2/7/2019

"I purchased the CVA Wolf on sale having never shot a ML before and all i can tell you is i was impressed. I know its the lower end cheap CVA and that's what i expected out of the box, well the gun was beautiful and well built and felt high quality and is very easy to use and clean even for a newbie, upon the 5th shot and a few adjustments to the sights i can shoot 1in groups at 100 yards and that's impressive with open sights none of my center fires shoot that good so i was shocked. The rifle feels so good in the hands and its so light weight i could carry it all day. I am going to purchase the optima V2 very soon because i was so impressed by the wolf. Its a very great rifle for the money and its easy to see why so many people love and trust CVA"

  4. Awesome review by Joe on 12/17/2018

"I love this gun. Light weight and accurate. Mine was the El cheapo one so it started to rust fast. I painted it and that solved that problem. I shot 100 grain white hots with a 325 grain slug. I recommend getting a shock proof scope with good eye clearance if you are going to lay down and shoot it. The rings are the only thing that I don't like about CVA guns. You can only put a 40 mm scope in them. I like a 56 mm"

  5. CVA Wolf review by Bigkenny on 8/23/2018

"Mostly plastic or whatever name they are using today for the stock and fore grip. The rest of the rifle seems to be made of good quality metal. The sights are plastic with colored indicators. This is a budget black powder rifle and you should not expect it to perform at a high level. I have had no issues with the function of the rifle, but there are some issues with the quality. The rod that came with the rifle will not securely stay in place, and if you have the the notched assist attachment on when you return the rod it can turn up and partially obstruct the muzzle. Remember that this is is not a top of the line muzzle loader, but a good for beginners. Be very careful with this rifle and make sure you read all of the user guide info before using. "

  6. I highly recommend the wolf for all ages! review by cory on 3/2/2018

"Best muzzleloader I've had so far. I just upgraded from a thompson center arms old style with the nipple and cap. I can reload the wolf 10 times faster. light, accurate, looks cool, easy to clean and reload. All around the wolf is a 10 out of 10 muzzleloader. "

  7. Straight shooting better than a $500 gun review by David Cole on 11/1/2016

"Best gun for anything under $600"

  8. Cheap review by Justin Moore on 8/26/2015

"This is the "you get what you pay for" muzzleloader. They shoot straight but if your hunting mulies or blacktail in the west and pounding brush then this gun might give you issues. Good tree stand or groud blind muzzleloader tho."

  9. Perfect gun for anyone review by Michael Hammons on 8/26/2015

"I purchased the CVA Wolf Compact for my kids (ages 8 and 11)to use in Ohio for deer season. It is as accurate as my optima and they are 3 for 3 killing deer with it.

I also use this gun when I'm walking. It's light and with its short barrel, I can hunt all day in the thickest brush with little effort. We love it. It's easy to clean and due to a heavier barrel, kicks easy less than a shotgun. Kids have never complained about kick. They do have to use a rest to keep it steady. "

  10. Impressed review by Lou on 7/30/2015

"I just purchased one of your fine CVA Wolf .50 Caliber muzzle loader rifles. At first I didn't know what to expect, but after a friend told me about the CVA brand and how Great they truly are. This is my first muzzle loader rifle. but after inspecting it every closely I am very IMPRESSED!!! With the excellent workmanship that went into the above and am very pleased!! You should be very proud you are a CVA dealer. On a scale of 1 to 10 the overall workmanship is a solid 10!!."
